History
Founded in 46 BC by the Romans as a convalescing point for injured soldiers (Called Noviodunum – meaning new fortress).
It was subsequently an important trading post in medieval times. It has reinvented itself again in the modern era to become a mecca for large international companies and organisations like: UEFA, Novartis, Hublot, Beckman Coulter, EMS, Generali.
Nyon’s beautiful old town bears testament to its medieval past. There are many Roman monuments scattered around the town and two museums that celebrate both the Roman history of Nyon and the history of Lake Geneva.
